Sometime in the mid to late 1900s, the home was turned into an apartment building and held 23 different units for renters. Each of the bedrooms had its own private bathroom and there were multiple fireplaces all with intrinsic designs. The house was known to host lavish parties for Denver's most elite that were held on the 3rd floor, which boasted a 20-foot pyramid ceiling and glamourous maple flooring. Mout was a Scottish immigrant and was in fact an actual Lumber Baron. It is reported that the Mouat Lumber company built over 200 homes and buildings in Denver. Mouat built the mansion for his wife Amelia and their 5 children. Today, the Lumber Baron Inn is a bed and breakfast, and according to their website, the 9,000-square-foot mansion was built in 1890 by John Mouat. The series follows 3 sets of investigators at 3 different haunted locations across the U.S. Paranormal investigators Shane, Ray, and Amy were all assigned to Denver's Lumber Baron Inn and documented the spooky occurrences that they encountered. The couple believed that a 28-day investigation could be the ideal amount of time for a paranormal investigation to be solved. So while the demon is, of course, the film's primary villain, Micah's toxicity is the catalyst that led to Katie succumbing to demonic possession. In the end, this allowed the demon a prime opportunity to take full control. He gaslights Katie throughout the entire film, and by doing so, he effectively breaks her down, allowing her negative emotions to take hold. After experiencing what they think are a series of 'break-ins', a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem. Micah manages to convince Katie (and himself) that he is "in control" of this situation he knows absolutely nothing about. Yet Micah ignores both of them, ultimately resulting in tragedy. The psychic directly spelled out for Micah why communicating with the demon would be reckless, and Katie voiced her opposition to purposefully drawing the demon out on multiple occasions. Perhaps the most egregious of Micah's actions is his willingness to put not only himself, but Katie in direct danger to fuel his own ego. While Katie is the one at the center of all of these horrifying, traumatic events, Micah never fails to ignore her wishes and disregard her thoughts about the demon. The obviously possessed Katie crawls into the frame with a menacing grin, and just before the film cuts to black, her face changes into a demonic-like figure as she lunges, screaming at the camera. Then Micah's body is suddenly thrown at the camera, knocking it down. After a few moments of Micah screaming, silence follows. Suddenly, Katie releases a bloodcurdling scream, and Micah springs into action.įalling victim to the demon's trap, Micah leaves the room, and the camera continues rolling as the action happens offscreen. For two hours, Katie silently watches Micah sleeping before heading downstairs. The next night, the camera feed shows Katie exiting the bed while Micah is still asleep. Anyone else notice how Jessica(Alisha Boe) is Alex’s(Kathryn Newton) friend in Paranormal Activity 4. Micah gives in to her request, unaware that the Katie he knew is gone for good. To his surprise, Katie has had a complete change of heart about leaving the house and begs him to stay in the home with her, insisting they'll be safe there after all. Moreover, horror films with religious overtones have played well in the Latino community (see: the success of Devil Inside, the franchise, etc.), so it's not surprising to see Paramount trying to tap that market directly.Once Micah has everything in order, he heads upstairs to retrieve Katie. Found-footage horror has been successful for the studio, with the Paranormal Activity movies having earned $575+ million on minuscule budgets and Devil Inside earning $100+ million on a $1 million investment. PA franchise creator Oren Peli and producer Jason Blum will also be involved.īy "Latino-themed," we mean that, thought presented in English, the spin-off - described as a "cousin" to PA, not a reboot or direct sequel - will feature a Latino cast and revolve around Latin-catholic supernatural mythology - much in the same way that Paramount's 2012 found-footage film The Devil Inside did. THRhas previously reported on this project, which will be written and directed by Christopher Landon, the man who wrote the scripts for Paranormal Activity 2 - 4. The details state that Paranormal Activity 4 fans should look for a post-credits clip that acts as a teaser for a Latino-themed Paranormal Activity spin-off, which Paramount will release in 2013. Bloody Disgustingdropped the rumor, stating that they have word on the matter from sources inside Paramount Pictures. Thus, as in the previous movies, there are the same scenes of strange things happening in a suburban familys home. If I get a good food site (such as my +24 food at 3 pop) is it better to spawn colonists, or use it as a production powerhouse (with lots of population) and rely on going to Europe for people? Is it worth putting effort into bells early or should I focus on money/improvements? Should I focus on growth in my cities, or expansion early (other threads here show ~8 is a good number)? Is it worth taking the time to look for a good, clear site for my first city (I am used to civ, where that is far to crippling)? I have been playing Dutch, as they seem to help get started with the merchantman.įrom my attempts, some questions i have come up with are: So, any tips on how to get my colony going? I can't get used to the fact that my colonists are everything. I have a quite a bit of civ experience (II and IV) but that just seems to confuse me. So I have one good city, a useful one, but the rest are really bad (I am switching the single colonist between ore and tools). I either get crammed in by other Europeans and/or natives with only 1 or 2 colonies, or in my latest game settled my own island, but though it had tons of ore, it had one city with lots of food and decent wood (2 fish, 10 food city square a few woods), but little wood, food, and no luxury resources elsewhere. So I got it running, but even on the easiest difficulty, I can't seem to get myself established. (I recognize this site isn't about FreeCol, but I am already on it and it should be similar) Recently in another forum, talking about civ 4 colonization I was directed to FreeCol I had been looking to play colonization for quite a while (didn't put much effort in, but always had my eyes open), but never got a chance. There are 2 brilliant tools that can handle serialized data and do a search and replace on the old and new databases for the URL and leave serialized data intact. Then finally in 1891, the Electro-Technical Exposition in Frankfurt Germany marked the end of the DC era of power when three-phase current was born. This was a luxury seen only in mansions, high-end hotels and businesses. At this point in time, 95% of residents did not have access to electric based power. Today we will take a more in-depth look at hardwired voltages, the history behind these ratings, and the benefits of each.Īs early as the 1870’s, small DC power systems were found in factories and populated downtown areas. However, many international locations utilize 240V almost exclusively. Here in the United States we are most familiar with standard 120 Volt power and 240V connections for certain larger home appliances. When purchasing a new light source, first and foremost, you must always match your light bulb to the requirements of your fixture. This week we will be discussing voltage differences, common uses and why it's important to understand these ratings. Some lighting systems require even more volts. Many US commercial buildings run on 277 volts, and in Europe, the standard voltage supply is 220 volts-a major reason why American appliances won’t work in overseas outlets. They are by no means the only voltages that can be used to operate lighting systems or appliances. These are just the three most common residential voltages in America. The rule of thumb: if your lights are being used somewhere where the wiring could become exposed, and therefore hazardous, it is always better to opt for low voltage lighting if given the choice. For a low voltage light source, this risk is significantly reduced and would result in little to no harm in most scenarios. If the wire for a 120-volt light source (which would run underground or on a building’s exterior, if used outdoors) were to become exposed, it would be very dangerous for someone to come in contact with, possibly resulting in a dangerous electric shock. The reason low voltage lighting is used outdoors is because it’s safer. 24V tape light further in our LED tape light guide. The longer your continuous strand of rope or tape light, the more voltage you will need to travel across its entire length without losing brightness (a phenomenon called voltage drop). The one you need depends on how long you need your rope or tape light to be. When it comes to LED rope light, or LED tape light for that matter, you may have the option to choose between a 12-volt or 24-volt light. In most cases, whether you need a 12- or 24-volt light bulb simply depends on the needs of your light fixture: does your fixture require a bulb that runs on 12 or 24 volts to operate? A transformer (or LED driver for LEDs) is required to "step down" (reduce/convert) the standard 120-volt supply provided to your home into a 12-volt or 24-volt supply for your lights. Meanwhile, 12 volts and 24 volts are commonly used for outdoor lighting and are referred to as “low voltage” lighting. Likewise, most appliances run on 120 volts and can simply be plugged into an indoor outlet. A 120-volt light bulb can typically be screwed into an indoor light fixture and operate correctly without further complication. Nearly all indoor residential light fixtures and appliances in the U.S. 120 volts is commonly referred to as “line voltage” by electricians and other industry experts. This is the voltage that travels to your home from your local utility substation. So what are the differences between them?ġ20 volts is the standard voltage supply for American homes. Lights operate on different voltages for specialized purposes, and in America, 120-volt, 12-volt, and 24-volt lighting systems are the most common. This week we’re gonna answer one of the most asked, yet elusive lighting questions in the industry: Why do certain lights operate on 120 volts versus 12 or 24 volts? And why does voltage even matter? It’s all about wattage, right? Not exactly. Imagine holding a ball of fire in your hand. If you have a gentle personality, what scares you about anger? See our Self-Love Journal and Inner Child Work Journal for more in-depth guidance. Therefore, I highly recommend practicing self-love and inner child work in conjunction with shadow work, and preferably beforehand. Without knowing how to show self-compassion toward ourselves, shadow work can be harmful and even retraumatizing (e.g., we can beat ourselves up over what we discover and use it to torment ourselves). Shadow work is quite simply the practice of actively choosing to explore our shadow selves.Īs one facet of inner work, shadow work is most effective when we have a strong foundation of self-love and inner child work supporting us. I talk more about this “golden shadow” in my article entitled Shadow Work: 13 Dark Archetypes. There are also positive elements stuffed within the shadow such as hidden gifts (e.g., intuitive, artistic, humanitarian) and qualities like sensitivity and even compassion that we may have needed to hide away as children for fear of being punished, bullied, or rejected. Is the shadow self only full of dark and negative stuff? No, not necessarily. The Shadow is comprised largely of elements of our nature - our repressed sexuality, fears, frailties, secret desires, and so on - that we have rejected for various reasons, and as such have been effectively split off, forming a type of secondary personality that emerges under certain conditions, like stress, anxiety, strong emotions, and anything involving sudden changes. In the words of psychotherapist Robert A. Our shadow self is our dark side, our inner ‘basement’ that contains all the parts of ourselves that we have a hard time accepting. It is also what makes bad TV shows so entertaining. It is what keeps you watching and keeps us coming back from more. When you think about your favourite TV series you will begin to notice that every episode follows the same structure. When it comes to storytelling every great story follows a structure. The premium features include the ability to create a custom merch store, a custom page for viewers to send donations, access to more custom overlays, streaming to multiple sites at once, and dedicated creator support. But as your audience grows and you become more familiar with what works for you, you can opt to pay either a $19 monthly subscription or $149 for an entire year to get access to more features.
